Frequently asked questions about Buenos Aires:

BUENOS AIRES AIRPORT - EZEIZA

Here are some posts I've found. Regarding prices have in mind that inflation makes necessary to update them, I bet that none of them are still valid (April 2008)

Another comment before starting with the posts: on business days there are many places in Buenos Aires where to obtain local money. In the airport the best rate is at Banco Nación, but if the line is too long, you can go to Banco Piano, I looked at the rate yesterday and it was 1% bad. So, loosing too much time for gaining for example three dollars (if you change 300) makes little sense, this bank is also in the upper floor.(April 3, 2008)

sassyaztec: Okay, I answered my own question. Manuel tienda answered me super fast. Quote is $95. Here is their website for future search reference: http://www.tiendaleon.com.ar/home/home.asp. December 28, 2007

karmalaw: VIP and World Car still charge 85 pesos or less. Understand any time you use a "concierge" you will most likely pay far more than the going rate for whatever the concierge arranges. World Car S.A. www.world-car.com.ar. E-mail: reservas@world-car.com.ar. Telephone: 5480-1226 or 5480-1219 I use either World Car or VIP when I arrive at EZE -- both have better prices than Manuel Tienda Vip Car: Teléphone: 5480-4590. To dial Buenos Aires, Argentina from the USA: 011-54-11-XXXX-XXXX. December 28, 2007

dr__dawggy: Taxi Ezeiza chages 78 pesos...this rate is up from 70 pesos back in September...but still less expensive than a remise, espcially one arranged for you by the rental company.... http://www.taxiezeiza.com.ar/. December 28, 2007

ScarlettO1 VIP Car ( +54 11 5480 4590 ) also, look at this page I found :) http://www.law.stetson.edu/international/summer/argentina/importantarrivalinfo.pdf. December 28, 2007

dr__dawggy: I have wasted more time searching and/or waiting for prearranged rides than I have waiting in line to arrange a ride from either a remise or taxi after I arrive. I no longer bother to book in advance because of glitches I have had meeting up with drivers who did not show, arrived on time but left because my flight was late, or arrived late themselves. Another post may help:

dr__dawggy: The taxi fare will be exactly 78 pesos, including tolls. (unless the fare was raised to start the new year) Exit Customs and proceed straight ahead. Pass the roped off area reserved for arriving passengers and enter the main terminal where locals are waiting to pick up friends and relatives. Straight ahead there is a white/blue booth with Taxi Ezeiza written on it. Go to the booth and arrange a taxi. No problem.... http://taxiezeiza.com.ar/ A second option...Exit Customs and before passing through the area reserved for arriving passengers there are booths offering a variety of services, including private cars (remise). World and VIP are two reliable companies. The fare is about 85 to 90 pesos. Never take a taxi from the curb at EZE. Always arrange transportation from one of the booths.

To obtain local dinero: Use Banco de la Nacion (found to the right after picking up bags at customs).....do not use Global Exchange....where rates are terrible.....January 1, 2008
